Every choice comes with its trade-offs. Let's break down the advantages and disadvantages of the providers for a clear decision making.
Users appreciate the high availability and scalability features of AWS SNS SMS. It allows them to store and manage large amounts of data efficiently.
AWS SNS SMS integrates seamlessly with other AWS services, making it easy to notify end users or other AWS services, which is a significant advantage.
AWS Cloud Storage, including SNS SMS, is known for its durability. Data is stored across multiple devices and facilities, ensuring data accessibility even in the case of component failures.
AWS Cloud Storage provides robust security measures, including access controls, identity and access management, and encryption, which help protect sensitive data.
Users can choose from various storage classes with different features and pricing to suit their specific needs and budgets.
One drawback mentioned is the minimum size requirement for object storage when implementing a lifecycle policy on the S3 bucket. Objects smaller than 108 KB are not applicable for lifecycle policy management, which can be limiting.
AWS SNS SMS has a limitation of 256 KB for message size. Some architectural designs may require notifying end users or pushing large bundles of data to different AWS services, which can be challenging with this size restriction.
AWS Cloud Storage, including SNS SMS, can be complex for users who are new to cloud computing or AWS services. Setting up and customizing storage options may require a learning curve.
Some users find it challenging to predict storage costs accurately with AWS Cloud Storage, especially if they exceed their storage limits, leading to unexpected additional charges.
Users mentioned a potential concern about vendor lock-in when using AWS Cloud Storage, as migrating data and applications from AWS to another provider or on-premises infrastructure can be challenging due to proprietary services and architecture.
Plivo offers a robust and easy-to-use API for Voice and SMS communication. This makes it a good choice for developers who want to integrate communication features into their applications.
Plivo offers flexible BYOC (Bring Your Own Carrier) options, which allows businesses to use their own carriers for voice and SMS traffic. This can save businesses money on their communication costs.
Plivo supports a diverse range of local numbers, which makes it a good choice for businesses that want to reach customers in multiple countries.
Plivo offers competitive pricing for its services. This makes it a good choice for businesses on a budget.
Plivo's user interface is easy to use and navigate. This makes it a good choice for businesses of all sizes.
Some users have reported that Plivo's customer support is not as responsive or helpful as they would like.
Plivo may not offer as many advanced features as some of its competitors. This could limit its appeal for certain use cases.
Plivo has been the victim of several security breaches in recent years. This has raised concerns about the security of its platform.

Don't just take our word for it. Hear directly from users on G2 who have used

The library offered for VS makes this super easy to use. Integration is the key here, with a valid AWS account the SNS library programmatically offers a quick and very effective way of sending out messages via the SNS service. This isn't necessarily a knock on AWS, we used a different provider previously and the same sort of legal red tape existed, but it is a bit of a pain waiting around for the powers that be on the cell networks approving campaigns for SMS.
Small Business
Its event based service and it helps to notify your end user or any other amazon service which is truly amazing. There are alot of system design that requires to notify end user or aws services which comes in built-in with SNS that is very huge plus point. SNS have limitation of 256 kb some architecture design needs to notify end user or lets say push specific bundle of data to different aws service then 256 kb is too less.
Software Developer
Plivo is a pretty easy platform to understand, especially with a background of working at a SaaS company. Plivo is our chosen SMS provider for our advocate/supporter activation texts - I haven't had any need to reach out to support, though, so I can't comment on their customer service level. Similarly to most SaaS softwares, there are SO many ways to do the same thing.
SaaS Customer Success Enablement
I like the simplicity. Plivo has a lot of docs, integration libraries and ways to use in business and life scenarios. And this makes it awesome tool for everyday tasks (like call forwarding) and for real business cases (like complex ivrs and so on). It not related to Plivo, but sometimes there are issues with sms A numbers, ability to change call A numbers, but it's all about call providers, and service cannot be responsible for that.
